Why was this pathway chosen?

    The Mid-Level Connector project is a result of years of community engagement and planning. It has been identified in the City’s Sustainable Official Community Plan (SOCP) since 2014. More recently, it's been recommended in both the Parks and Trails Master Plan and in the Bicycle Network Strategy. The Mid-Level Connector, together with the Maple & Sycamore Safe Streets project, will provide a safe active transportation connection between Westview and Townsite and enable active travel to Brooks Secondary.

    How is this project funded?

    The project is funded by the following grants:

    • $594,887 from the Powell River Community Forest Ltd.;
    • $549,975 from CleanBC Communities;
    • $450,000 from the federal Active Transportation Fund; and
    • $10,000 from the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC).
