Was there asbestos testing completed for the siding prior to demolition?
Yes, given the potential age of the stucco siding, an assessment was completed by Tsolum and Tsable June 23, 2025. No asbestos containing materials were found. The public may see a contractor “Asbestos Busters” working at the library, they are a demolition subcontractor to Sioux Projects – their presence on site is not an indication of asbestos abatement.
Will the library be open during this project?
Yes! While there may be some noise during the project, there are no planned interruptions to access to the library or any of the organizations on the upper floor.

Yes! While there may be some noise during the project, there are no planned interruptions to access any of the organizations on the upper floor, namely:
unit 200 - Strive Living Society; unit 201 - Vancouver Coastal Health; unit 205 - unit 207 - Powell River Region & Transition Society; unit 215 - qathet Art Council; unit 216 - Simply Bronze; and unit 218 - River City Martial Arts Association.
