Amateur photographers are invited to submit your best snapshots of Powell River for use on Participate Powell River, the City's website, as well as in reports, social media and other promotions. We're looking for photos that celebrate life in our picturesque paradise.
Photographers read and complete the appropriate waivers you'll find in the right margin.

Historic Townsite, our rich and vibrant culture and world renowned festivals, like International Choral Kathaumixw and Pacific Region International Summer Music Academy, Sunshine Music Festival, the BC Bike Race, Blackberry Festival, Sunshine Coast Trail, the mill, our water sports, the back country, our exquisite sunsets and, of course, our friendly people.

Grief Point, the Mill and the.....
Nope, that is not a seal on the water..... look again! On one of the hottest days we have had this summer while we were swimming, a bypassing bear decided as well to go for a little dip on the refreshing waters of Griefpoint beach....only in Powell River!

Willingdon Beach
I was trying to capture some clouds reflections on the water, when a fishingboat came along to move some crabtraps. It was my perfect little "zen" moment, to see the seagulls, sunlight, clouds and the boat blend with the calmness of the water.

Mowat Bay under the lights
Took me almost two years of waiting for the right conditions to take this picture a couple of months ago.... I love Astrophotography and Northern Lights, but is quite seldom to be able to see them here. One night in 2017 driving from wildwood to townsite I discovered by a chance that if there was a strong enough magnetic storm and clear skies, you could get a glimpse of Aurora Borealis on Mowat, but I didn't had my photography equipment with me.
