Consultation has concluded
On February 1, 2021, the City of Powell River acknowledged receipt of Veyron Properties Group’s application tied to the development of a 141-unit, 6-storey multi-family residential rental project on a vacant property at the corner of Edgehill Crescent and Joyce Avenue, adjacent to the new Coastal Breeze Village development. To align with the City's Sustainable Official Community Plan (SOCP), their proposal required an amendment to the property's land use designation. To align with the City’s Zoning Bylaw, rezoning of the property was also required. The proponent applied to amend the land use designation of the property from Urban Residential Low Density to Urban Residential Medium Density and rezone it from R1 (Single Family Residential) to RM5 (Multiple Family Residential Five). After successful community consultation, City Council granted approval of both proposed amendments by bylaw on August 19, 2021. Following these approvals, City staff began to review the development permit and development variance permit applications submitted by Veyron. A staff report was presented at the Committee of the Whole meeting held on November 2, 2021. On November 18, 2021, Development Permit 319 and Development Variance Permit 261 were approved by Council. Staff understand that Veyron is currently working on a Building Permit application submission.
