Consultation has concluded

Tla’amin Nation has submitted two development applications for a parcel of land that it owns at 5903 Arbutus Avenue. The development proposed is a three-storey, 30-unit residential building. One of the applications is for a development variance permit, which is the subject of this page. This variance application is seeking a relaxation in the required number of off-street parking spaces from 51 to 36. If the variance is approved, it would support Tla'amin Nation's proposal for a multi-family development. Please read through the staff report to Council on the proposed variance and the proposed development, which can be downloaded from the Document link to the right.

Council will consider granting approval for issuance of Development Variance Permit 290 at its June 5, 2025, regular meeting. Anyone who feels they may be affected by the proposed variance can make written submission to Mayor and Council. Submissions may be emailed to planningservices@powellriver.ca, mailed to City Hall, 6910 Duncan Street, Powell River, BC, V8A 1V4, or delivered in person to City Hall. All written submissions must be received no later than 2 pm on June 5, 2025.

As always, residents are welcome to reach out directly to Planning Services staff with any additional questions or concerns. Our offices can be reached at 604-485-8650 or planningservices@powellriver.ca.
