Corporate Climate Action Strategy:

Climate Action in a Small Coastal Town

The City continues its progressive actions in 2020 toward greater sustainability and significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and energy costs.

In 2019, the City continued to strive in becoming more sustainable and reduce both its corporate and community carbon footprints, and you've been instrumental in achieving those goals. We look to you for helping us move forward.

The City has a five-point Climate Emergency Response, which includes:

  • a commitment to the City becoming carbon neutral in 2019 and beyond
  • direction to staff to prepare reports outlining recommended actions required to become carbon neutral
  • updating the community-wide target of reducing emissions
  • actions related to climate change mitigation and adaption, and plans needed to address the revised community emissions reduction target

Where do you want to see new bike rack locations?

5 months

Cycling is a growing mode of transportation in Powell River and at busy times existing bike racks are full.

The City has heard from the community that more bike racks are needed. But where?

We want to hear from you.

  • Put a pin on our interactive map below where you'd like to see a bike rack
  • Add a comment and include a photo, if you'd like
  • Vote by adding your pin to another that's already on the map

The new bike racks are part of City’s active transportation plan to improve residents’ health and reduce our environmental footprint. We will review feedback on locations and incorporate it into our plans for new bike rack installation in 2020.

Let’s work together to create a more bike-friendly Powell River. Thank you for taking the time to share your input!
